Learning Ally National Achievement Awards

The Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Awards (SAA)

The Scholastic Achievement Awards are presented to Learning Ally members who are college seniors and blind or visually impaired.

A selection committee will choose nine exceptional students as recipients of this award. Learning Ally gives three top winners $6,000 each, three special honors winners $3,000 each, and three honors winners $1,000 each.

Applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legally blind
  • Registered as an Learning Ally member for at least one year, up to and including the period of February 1, 2009 - February 1, 2010 (individually or through a school)
  • Have or will receive a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree from an accredited four year college or university in the United States between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010
  • Overall grade point average of 3.0 or more on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent if an alternative grading system is used)

 

The MARION HUBER Learning Through Listening Award

Learning Ally presents the Learning Through Listening Awards annually to a total of six students in two categories:

                     Three winners will receive $6,000 each
                     Three Special Honors winners will receive $2,000 each.

Applicants must:

  • Have a specific learning disability
  • Be registered with Learning Ally for at least one year
  • Be a member of a graduating class of either a public or private high school in the United States or its territories
  • Have an overall grade point average of B or above in grade 10 through 12
  • Plan to continue formal education beyond high school at either a two- or four-year college or a vocational school
  • Provide evidence or leadership, enterprise and service to others.
